Campaign for Good Governance

I've decided to write about local and worldwide human rights initiatives in my blog so let me start to introduce Campaign for Good Governance. My nice friend Valnora, you can see her wonderful smile in the picture (I took this picture from her last year in Budapest), has informed me about this initiative in Sierra Leone. Just a brief background about Sierra Leone, a country in Western Africa, between Guinea and Liberia where the government is reestablishing its authority after the 1991 to 2002 civil war that resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of more than 2 million people , about one-third of the population. The last UN peacekeepers withdrew in December 2005, leaving full responsibility for security with domestic forces, but a new civilian UN office remains to support the government.
Campaign for Good Governance exists to increase citizen participation in governance through advocacy, capacity building and civic education in order to build a more informed civil populace and a democratic State.
Here they are main objectives of CGG:
  1. Decentralization and Local Governance
  2. Security Sector Reform
  3. Access to Justice and the Realization of Rights
  4. Civil Society Strengthening
